This is Dish Up! - My Week in Review, weekly pictures from my food-obsessed life. 

This week I traveled to Seattle to watch my little sister graduate from medical school. There is officially a doctor in the family and I couldn't be more proud. While in Seattle, we celebrated by dining at incredible restaurants, grilling out by the Puget Sound, and gorging ourselves on the best croissants and coffee in the city. I judge the success of a vacation based on the number of pounds I gained during it. It was a 6-pound vacation and it was worth every bite.

I'm lucky to be related to an extremely talented chef. My cousin Rachel Yang and her husband Seif Chirchi own two renowned restaurants in Seattle: Joule and Revel. Their Korean fusion cuisine gained enough attention that they were invited to compete on Iron Chef America in 2010.

I recently made yukhoe (Korean beef tartare), so I was excited to try my cousin's version. The Asian pear and pine nuts added wonderful texture to the dish.

I LOVE sweatbreads and these crispy sweatbread-sticks with fish caramel pickles were phenomenal.

While we waited for the Vietnamese noodle house to open for breakfast, we decided to whet our appetite with some croissants from Columbia City Bakery.

At 10 am the Chinese Noodle House (which is actually a Vietnamese restaurant) opened. My sister highly recommended the braised duck noodle soup. It was a wonderful departure from my go-to pho.

Since we were in the International District, we decided to peruse a Vietnamese grocery store. I recently tried Durian for the first time and loved it, so I was pleased to see this giant bin full of the stinky fruit.
